A Family Day of Persimmon Picking and a Short Hike

Looking for something fun and different to do this weekend? With your kiddos (small or big), your family, or your friends?

Here’s what we did.

I took the kids to Pauma Valley to pick persimmons at Bar 2 Ranch. I wasn’t sure how into it they’d be. They loved it and didn’t want to leave! Everyone got a bucket and clippers. Many persimmons never made it in. 🍊

Then we went for a short hike in Wilderness Gardens County Preserve, just minutes away. We had our picnic lunch by the quiet pond in the middle of the hike. The kids led the way the whole time.

No screens. No “I’m bored.” No fights. Just lots of laughing, sticky hands, and some physical effort (finally!).
